My Story

My passion for health and wellness began shortly after I entered my early 20's and found I felt my absolute best when creating a healthy routine for myself including regular exercise and healthful cooking. Growing up I was always active and involved in competitive sports but it wasn't until I dug further into my own personal health goals and wanted to take my fitness and nutrition to that next level, which then really sparked the inner “health nut” in me.

Recognizing at a young age how important eating right alongside consistant exercise was for both my mental and physical well-being, was what really drove me to pursue a career in the health and wellness industry. I really wanted to share this feeling and the positive benefits with others, and turn this passion into something  even bigger. Doing something with my life that I was excited about and also knowing that same something could genuinely help others along the way was really important for me, and deciding to study nutrition from there was basically a no-brainer!

Fast forward to 2017, after completing my studies at IHN and by then having almost fully transitioned to a complete plant-based diet, I decided I wanted to dive even deeper into the connection between food and health and expand my knowledge on how to create and use food for preventative health and treatment purposes.

After much research online I stumbled across the Natural Gourmet Institute; a health-supportive culinary school in NYC that specializes in plant-based cuisine and using food as medicine for preventing disease and treating illness. This being a very specific niche program I knew it was the perfect fit for me and really aligned with my values and career goals. So after a dreamy 6 months in the big city, I completed my diploma in Health & Culinary Arts and moved back to Vancouver as a Health-Supportive Chef specializing in the power of plant-based cuisine.

From meal planning and personal cheffing for clients full time, to recipe development and innovation, I have now also implemented my personal training education into the mix to bring my skill set together to address my clients needs through a variety of coaching services.

Being able to really make a difference in people's lives and do what I love to do at the same time is so fulfilling to me and gives me a sense of purpose I've always wanted to share with the world.  I can't wait to see where holisticjoy takes me from here!
